Stuff I use

Hi

This is a list of hardware and software I personally choose to use. I'm not listing anything I use exclusively for work, or is work-issued.

Hardware

Mobile Devices

  • iPhone 15 Pro 128GB
  • iPad Pro M1 with Apple Pencil 2nd Gen

Computer

  • Macbook Air M1. almost 6 years old, and still kicking, but starting to give signals of tiredness. Looking to replace it with a M5 Mac Mini (when they come up), and to keep this one as a dumb client for mobility only.

Peripherals

  • 27" 4K LG Monitor
  • Caldigit TS3 Plus docking station
  • Apple Magic Keyboard
  • Apple Magic Trackpad
  • Logi MX Vertical mouse
  • Nuphy Air 75 keyboard

Sound

  • Edifier R1280Ts speakers
  • Airpods Max
  • Marshall Mode wired earbuds
  • A pair of cheap tiny wireless airbuds to sleep

  • iPhone
  • iPod Classic modified with flash storage and a new battery
  • Fiio CP13 cassette Player
  • Audio Technica LP-120
  • Audio Technica LP-60x

  • Zoom Podtrak P8
  • Zoom H4n Pro Handy Recorder
  • Audio Technica hand-held microphones with cheap Amazon stands

Software

Quality of Life

  • Amphetamine keeps my mac awake during the day
  • Rectangle for window management (macOS does it, just not as robustly)
  • Ice keeps my menu bar tidy
  • Velja allows me to assign default browsers to different urls
  • HyperKey remaps CapsLock to CMD+Option+Ctrl+Shift, allowing for a lot of new shortcuts

Essential Functions

  • All my essentials are covered by native Apple apps. Safari, Mail, Notes, and Reminders.

Writing, Coding and Design

  • Antinote for day-to-day notes
  • IA Writer for long-form writing
  • Visual Studio Code for everything code
  • Figma for everything visual design
  • 11ty Editor, an application I vibecoded for updating my 11ty websites

Audio

  • I edit my podcasts in Adobe Audition. I'm trying to move away from Adobe, but I haven't found anything better than Audition.

Entertainment

  • I read on Apple Books (mostly imported epubs)
  • I listen to music on Apple Music
  • I use Overcast for podcasts
  • I have my local media on Plex (looking into moving to JellyFin, haven't done yet)
